Under the direction of van der Meer, Modern Bride has enriched its editorial content with a fresh new design, the use of high-fashion photographers and covers shot outdoors (a rare approach for bridal magazines).

Modern Bride has made such great strides among its competitive set that a roster of wedding industry superstars, celebrities and authors have recently aligned themselves with the magazine. In February 2005, she was named the editor-in-chief of Elegant Bride giving the luxury publication an updated look.

Van der Meer attended Brown University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Honors English and American Literature. She lives in Manhattan with her husband. They have four children.
